DIY Hair Dye With Kool-Aid!

Hello! Welcome to my blog Who's Anna Grace?, I'm AnnaD and I'm super happy you're here! Put your email in subscription box on the right so you get an update whenever I post.

Two weeks ago, I met up with some friends and we dip dyed our hair with kool-aid. It was really fun and the dye definitely showed on our hair, but we didn't know what we were doing and it made the process a little more nerve racking. Yes, we had read sites and watched videos but the information wasn't very clear. We did make quite a few mistakes and although it ended fine, and our hair looked good, I wish we had some better info.

As summer is coming, or slowly coming that is, it is a great time to be dyeing hair with kool-aid! It's a very easy and super fun task that can be done outside, or in the house without too big of a mess. Using Kool-aid as a dye is super easy and I want to make it even easier for y'all with some directions and tips.

You will need:
  • 2-4 packages of unsweetened Kool-Aid (these are $0.25 each at walmart!)
  • 2-4 cups of hot, boiling water
  • a bowl
  • hair dryer
  • an old towel
  • disposable gloves
Put on gloves. Mix the boiling water and Kool-aid in your bowl. Dip the ends of your hair into the dye and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes. The longer your hair is in the dye the more vibrant it will be.

Remove your hair from the bowl and rinse dye out with cold water. Blow dry the wet hair with heat setting on high. The heat will make the dye set.

Now here are some extra tips:

COLOR:
  • Here are your color options: Red (cherry), Purple (grape), lighter red (tropical punch), red (strawberry), green (lemon lime), blue (blue raspberry), and orange (orange).
  • If you're looking for a color that will show on all types of hair will be the cherry, strawberry, and the blue.
  • The other colors will do better on lighter hair if you are only using two packets. For brighter versions of all of the colors, use another packet.
  • Another tip for brighter colors would be to put conditioner in the hair you are dipping before you dye it. This has proven to give more vibrant colors as well.
  • The more water you use per packet also affects the vibrancy.
DYEING:
  • Make sure you are staying consistent with the dyeing. If you dip one section of your hair at one point, and then the other at another, you have the same process both times.
  • The dye needs to be hot both times you are dying, and if you have conditioner in one section of your hair when you dye it, then you must in the other side as well.
  • Be consistent!
TIMING:
  • You need to keep your hair in the dye for the same time as well so that you don't have unequal or different amounts of color on the sections of hair.
  • Timing is everything considering the color and equalization!
EXTRA:
  • For easier dipping, put your hair in small rubber bands before you dip your hair in the dye so that your hair stays together and doesn't go all over the place.
  • At some point, you will want to take your hair out of the rubber bands and scrunch it so that you do not have a line the dye.
  • As for clean up, if you accidentally got dye on your hands or on any part of skin, mix a small amount of water and baking soda and use to wash off dye, it will easily rinse from skin.
That's all! This was some info that I wish my friends and I knew before hand, and I am happy to share it with you now that I have this info 😏 Thank you for reading!

Frosted Strawberry Lemonade Recipe!

Hello Everyone! Today I have a delicious pink recipe to share. Frosted Strawberry Lemonade!

I made regular frosted lemonade when I was at a friends house once and loved it. The other day I was craving it again and I decided I was going to make it for myself. BUT, we had no ice! Since you can't make frosted lemonade without ice, I was distraught. However, my hopes were restored when I saw the frozen strawberries in the freezer, I decided Frosted Strawberry Lemonade would have to do.

And it did! I loved it so much that I made it again today and have decided to share it with you guys. Here's my super simple, but delicious recipe for frosted strawberry lemonade 🍓🍋🍓

Makes 3-4 glasses

You will need:

  • A blender
  • A cup
  • about 15 frozen strawberries
  • 4 cups of lemonade
The first time I made this, I made the lemonade in the blender as well, but this time I had the lemonader prepped. Either way will work for this recipe. Pour lemonade into blender and blend for 5 seconds. Add strawberries and blend for about 30 seconds. Pause and blend for another 30 seconds.

If you taste the drink and decide it needs more strawberries or lemonade, add to taste.

Pour frosted lemonade into cups and enjoy your cold drink!

As I said, super easy and super delicious! Be sure to share this recipe with friends and family and let me know if you have any favorite drinks you want the recipe for, here on Who's Anna Grace!

I Feel Happier! Here's Why...

My biggest goal this year is to be happy.

As a girl I often find it very hard to be consistently happy with myself. It doesn't help that I'm a TEEN girl. Sometimes I wake up and I can't find anything good in life, in myself, or in anything that happens. Since I started high school, it's gotten out of control, and I'm sick of it.

When I made this resolution to myself, I was determined to make it happen. This wouldn't be one of those things I throw out the window at Valentine's day. I'm going to stick with it. So far, I have.

It's been a month. I have bad days and I have great days. Here's 7 things I've changed in my lifestyle that have made me happier.

1. I exercise everyday. Right now, I'm using SELF magazine's monthly workouts and I love it. It takes up to 15 minutes and I feel satisfied when I'm finished. Exercising helps your physical and emotional state at the same time!

2. I read my Bible everyday. Start off the day right with a word from the Lord and keep it with you throughout the day to keep your anger, frustration, and hardships at peace.

3. I choose beautiful everyday. A couple months ago, I went to a girls conference. They showed a video by Dove on women and girls who had the option of Beautiful or Average doors to walk through, essentially giving themselves that title in the process. The effects of the choice changed the way they went throughout their day. I remember this video whenever I feel average and remind myself that it's my choice. I have the option of beautiful, so why not choose it?

4. I don't wear makeup everyday. I love makeup. I love the way it makes me feel and look, but sometimes, seeing me is better than seeing the made up me. I would rather put on makeup and feel the same amount of happiness when I had none on than take it off and feel like my energy source has left me.

5. I wash my face every night. Even if I don't have makeup on. It's refreshing, clean, and sometimes helps me sleep better!

6. I go outside everyday. Just ten minutes outside can usually change my mood from grumpy to happy.

7. I only wear what I like. The clothes in my closet are things that I like to wear and wear on a regular basis.

Some things to remember:
  • It's up to you, you're in charge of your happiness. Your attitude towards things you do, will change the way you enjoy them.
  • Give it a chance. You could do it if you really tried.
  • It's okay to "miss a day" or to forget to do something. It's not the end of the world, there is always tomorrow.
  • Your inner beauty reflects your outer beauty.
  • Life is going to be crazy, days will be harder than others. It's okay to take a step back and breathe.

Birchbox: January 2017 Reviews

For Christmas this year, I got a subscription to Birchbox. I'm very happy about it because I get new beauty and hair samples every month sent to my door for only $10 a month. So far, I have received two boxes. The first one was made up of their best sellers because I had not yet set up my account. This month's box I got to personalize, though, and I actually got things that I wanted/needed.

I'm going to try to share the boxes monthly, but today we'll just be testing the waters with this month's box. January 2017 Birchbox:

It's funny, I feel like getting the box itself is just as exciting as the products. The last two boxes have been absolutely gorgeous. Last month's box was chic and pretty, and this month the box is artistic and inspiring. Can't wait to see the February one!

When You receive the box, it comes with a card. On one side is a note from birchbox about this month's theme/inspirations and on the other side they have all of the products they've included in your box. The products have a little bio and also their prices on birchbox next to that. It's very helpful and informative if you were going to purchase a product, or do a review 😉

Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray | Full size is between $22-$39 - I can tell you with complete honesty and knowledge that this product works. I especially like it because I've never used a anti-humidity spray, and I love how it works without greasiness! It's easy to use and spray on and it smells super good.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk | Full size is $20 - When I first used this dry shampoo I was not expecting the amount of pressure that was in the bottle. It did it's job very well, coating my hair in a white powder that was easy to rub in. It was little white, but the more I ran my fingers through my hair, the better it looked. I will say that the volume I got from this dry shampoo was amazing as well. It looked as if I had washed and blowdried my hair.

IpKn Moist & Firm Beauty Balm SPF 45 | Full size is $35 - This has an interesting story. So I accidently put the wrong skin tone in when I was personalizing my account. I said light/medium, and I am definitely light not light/medium. So this BB cream is a little dark for me. I'm saving it for the summer, because maybe by then I'll have a tan. Anyways, the cream's coverage is very good, but for sure, it's main priority is sunblock. If you're looking for that, this stuff works.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner | Full size is $18 - I love this eyeliner. I don't use eyeliner very often, but this one has a very controlled tip, so it's super easy to apply. I will say that it is not waterproof whatsoever. It will easily some off in any water so be careful concerning that.

Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic To-Go | Full size is $18 - At first, when I applied this tonic pad, I noticed my red spots becoming redder. It really freaked me out, but I waited a few moments and I saw them going down. Once I waited a few more minutes, I could clearly see my red spots going down, almost completely! It was a refreshing use after I got over the fear of my growing spots on my cheeks.

That's all for the January 2017 box, but I will be trying to do this again. I loved reviewing the products, so it makes this even better. If you want to subscribe to birchbox, you can go here

Also, birchbox is partnered with SELF magazine and because of that, for this month, they are doing a free SELF New Year's Challenge. The challenge is a full month of step-by-step workouts and easy recipes. You can check it out here

DIY Hair Emergency Kit From Gum Packet

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! I'm AnnaD, the writer of this blog. You can read my previous posts by going to the archives on the right. And, don't miss my posts that have yet to come either. Put your email in the subscription box on the right for email updates whenever there's something new here at Who's Anna Grace?

If you like to chew gum, this is definitely a tutorial for you. This DIY Hair Emergency kit is made from a gum packet and your creativity. It's a recycling project that is handy for everyday life, and you can easily make it with stuff that you have at home. All you'll need to do in prep is save an empty gum packet.

When you finish this project, fill the packet with some bobby pins, small elastics, hair ties, and etc. Plop it into your purse and get going. When you find yourself in a situation where you need a hair tie or a couple of bobby pins, you'll be happy you made this hair kit.

What you'll need:
  • an empty gum packet (any and every size would work)
  • acrylic paint
  • sharpie
  • pencil
  • paintbrush
  • toothpick, dotting tool, or hair pin
Paint the entire gum packet with a thin coat of your choice of paint. I used a sky blue paint for the front and a light pink for the back. Wait for it to dry, and then paint on a second coat. If you need another coat after the second one, just make sure the second coat is dry before painting again.

After this point, you can personalized the kit however you like. I'm going to be showing you how I did mine.

Once the paint is completely dry, sketch the words or picture you would like on the front of the packet with a pencil. My packet says: In Case Of Hair EMERGENCY. When you are satisfied with the words or sketch, copy over it with your sharpie. I used plain black.

Next, dot your toothpick, dotter, or hair pin in some paint and create small hearts all over the front of the packet. You can easily create hearts by dotting two small dots, and the dragging them down towards each other.

That's all! Place in your backpack, purse, of wallet for future hair emergencies. If you chew a lot of gum, you could make a ton of these and put them in all of your purses so that you never have a hair emergency again!
